HTC-COLUMBIA WINS THE OPENING STAGE OF THE VUELTA AND TAKE THE RACE LEAD
Compex team is very proud to see their champions, HTC-Columbia, emerge victorious in the opening team time trial of the Vuelta a Espana, a 13 kilometre late night race against the clock through the streets of Seville last Saturday! Mark Cavendish was the first across the line but it was the entire team who got rewarded for their great work! Mark said: “I get to stand on the podium quite a lot, but that’s because of eight other guys hard work. Today we all got to stand on the podium and I’m incredibly proud of what my team-mates did.”
This victory is the 55th of the 2010 season for HTC-Columbia men’s team! Amazing job guys!
Donjoy, Compex and Tony Cairoli World Champions
Tony Cairoli is the new MX1 World Champion. The Sicilian obtained his second world title in a row in the MX1 class after winning the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The race was an uphill battle for Cairoli. In the first heat he started 19th and fought his way back to second. In the closing heat Cairoli won, while his only remaining rival – the Belgian Clément Desalle – didn’t score any points. With 2 more Grand Prix remaining, Cairoli has opened a big enough gap to be sure of his second consecutive world title.
Along with Cairoli, Donjoy Defiance kneebraces and Compex muscle stimulators are world champions. Donjoy and Compex have teamed up with Tony since his debut in the MX1 class and since the beginning of their partnership, they have known nothing but success. Still winning the world title with two Grand Prix left, came as a surprise. Even to four time world champion Tony Cairoli.
“The World title was so close”, explains Cairoli. “But when I saw how things were shaping up after the start I didn’t think I could win it in Brazil. I wasn’t even sure until the last lap that I had the world title wrapped up. This year I changed bikes and to win for a second year in a row with an all new motorcycle was a great challenge. I dedicate this victory to my family and to everyone who supports me and believes in me.”
Climbing With Compex
Robbie Phillips, a 19 year old Scottish climber, has written a fascinating blog post about his past few months filled with competitions, coaching, travelling and lots and lots of training. HTC-COLUMBIA’S CAVENDISH WINS FIFTH TOUR STAGE ON CHAMPS-ELYSEES
Our Compex Champion – Mark Cavendish – became the first ever rider in history to win for two years running on the Champs-Elysées! Already the winner of stages five, six, 11 and 18 this year, Mark’s victory in the Tour’s final stage is the fifteenth of his career in cycling’s top event, and his 59th road win since turning pro in 2007.
The win in Paris concluded team HTC-Columbia’s successful 2010 Tour de France which included Tony Martin wearing the Young Rider’s jersey in three stages, taking second place in the Prologue and the Individual Time Trial, and Bert Grabsch finishing third in the ITT.
Great job Champions!
Cycling Training Plan
Are you a competitive cyclist? Would you like to improve your power? Then this cycling plan is just perfect for you!
.
Developing the strength of your quads is always beneficial and you surely know that certain forms of training on the bicycle, like hill work, can make a contribution in this respect. By adding Compex muscular stimulation to your training, you can achieve spectacular results. How? The special muscle contractions regime of the Strength programme and the large amount of work to which the muscles are subjected allow a significant increase of the quads strength. Moreover, the Active recovery programme (of the Recovery category), carried out within three hours of the most intensive training, encourages muscular recuperation and makes it possible to follow on with qualitative training under optimum conditions.
Compex visits Campus Bojan
On July 4-10, the first Official Campus Bojan – a camp for young football players aged between seven and 16 who want to improve their football capabilities – took place in Puigcerdà, Spain. The Compex team, an official sponsor of the event, visited the camp on July 10 and presented Bojan Krkic, FC Barcelona striker, with COMPEX mi-SPORT to help him with the training and accompany him in his way to the top.
